YOU ARE INVITED!!Eighteen years ago, we deployed to Iraq together as Marines from the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment. Time, distance, and life events have taken us far away from the sands of Iraq and from connecting with our brothers who we shared those experiences with. This fall, the 4th Recon Veterans Foundation is sponsoring a weekend reunion retreat for the Marines of the 3/25 detachment to reconnect and re-engage with each other in the spirit of camaraderie. Your presence is requested, Marine!  WHEN IS THE DATE OF THE REUNION?Thursday, October 12 - Sunday, October 15, 2023 The date aligns with the theme of the reunion- Homecoming. If you recall, our detachment returned to San Antonio on October 15, 2005. Check in as early as 4:00pm on Thursday, October 12th; check out as late as 12:00pm on Sunday, October 15th. Reserve time off from work now!  WHERE IS THE REUNION TAKING PLACE? La Hacienda at Moondance Ranch - Utopia, Texas <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&amp;destination=29.602859834802%2C-99.555592464204&amp;fbclid=IwAR2cQ78cq-U4n6_OHbzamkDE9h1lCTufIX3Ixe9CmPmJ8mrsHNwWZ2oaf8I">12715 FM-1050 Utopia, TX 78884</a> La Hacienda is located on the Texas Hill Country Trail in the settlement of Utopia which is approximately 1.5 hours west of San Antonio. The property consists of two houses; one sleeps 33, and the other sleeps 15. It offers incredible views, exotic wildlife, and easy and quick access to Garner and Lost Maples State Parks, as well as the Utopia Park, Frio River, and the Sabinal River.  To take full advantage of the time and amenities of the property, we are looking to cultivate a full schedule of activities along with time to relax. Some of the amenities of the property include two swimming pools, a putting green, a ping-pong table, a pool table, fire pits, and foosball. Additionally, the property contains open fields for ATVs and woods for peaceful hikes or vicious Gel Blaster games.  We will be asking for input to help us determine what additional team-building and recreational activities to include. A couple of options include a hike to the river, a fishing competition, a corn hole tournament, trivia, a poker tournament, movie night, etc.  WHO IS WELCOME TO ATTEND THE RETREAT?All 4th Recon veterans who deployed with the 3/25 Marines in 2005 are invited to attend the reunion. Additionally, it is our goal to attain maximum participation, therefore, Marines are welcome to bring a spouse or family members with them on the retreat. We have contact information for about 70% of Marines. The families of our KIA Marines will be invited to join us Saturday evening. We want to ensure all Marines are contacted and invited to join. Additionally, pets are invited with appropriate oversight.  HOW MUCH WILL ALL THIS COST? The registration fee for all Marines is $50; $100 for Marines bringing a spouse or family members We do not want cost to be a deterrent to Marines attending. The fee includes meals, lodging, and activities for the full duration of the reunion. The Planning Committee has secured some sponsorship partners to help us keep the cost as low as possible. Some of our reunion sponsors include the 4th Recon Veterans Foundation, the Freedom Alliance, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, the Warrior Reunion Foundation, and the Semper Fi Fund. That being said, it is on us to collectively fundraise to ensure we have the resources to cover a fantastic and much-need reunion. We are still planning a coordinated fundraiser in August and a final crowdfunding push in September to cover the remaining expenses.
