Finding Dragons at Hague Nature Preserve

We will hunt for dragon and damselflies along Sycamore Creek in the Hague Nature Preserve. &nbsp;If you have any insect nets, feel free to bring yours as we will attempt to capture some to examine and photograph prior to releasing them. &nbsp;Bring your camera or cell phone! There will be a 1/2-mile hike from the parking area to the program site. &nbsp;This section of the preserve is being restored and is shrubby, so wearing long pants is strongly recommended. &nbsp;You may also want to wear a long-sleeved shirt or arm sleeves for protection. &nbsp;Don&rsquo;t forget your sunscreen, a sunhat, and/or insect repellent. &nbsp;Keep in mind, there are no restrooms in this location. This program is limited to 10 participants. Volunteer Hours Participants can earn volunteer hours for time spent at this program by adding their observations to the <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/hague-nature-preserve" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Hague Nature Preserve project on iNaturalist</a>. The Bill &amp; Joyce Hague Foundation is a partner with <a fr-original-style="" href="https://tnt2.hourworld.org/TNT2/home?oid=1057" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Care and Share Time Bank</a> and will approve volunteer hours for scouting, National Honor Society, <a fr-original-style="" href="https://ocvn.osu.edu/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists</a>, and other organizations that promote community service. While in Hague Nature Preserve we should not disturb the wildlife inhabitants and native plant life. There is a no alcohol, no smoking policy in the preserve. No PetsPets are never permitted in nature preserves. What to BringPotable water is not available at this location; bring your own drinking water. Depending on weather conditions and the time of year, you may want to bring sunscreen and/or insect repellent. Location Hague Nature Preserve We will meet at the barn at Coyote Run, 8960 Hill Rd S, Pickerington, Ohio. Coyote Run helps Bill &amp; Joyce Hague Foundation by allowing access through their property to Hague Nature Preserve on the east side of Sycamore Creek. Parking The entry is across from Fairfield Drive and the pond at The Villages of Sycamore. Follow the long driveway, over the bridge that crosses Sycamore Creek, to the white barn with green roof. From there, we will hike about a half-mile to reach the area where we will be looking for dragonflies. Keep in mind, there are no restrooms in the preserve.
