Finding Your Voice: Public Speaking &amp; Creative Expression for GirlsFor Girls Entering Grades 4&ndash;6Wednesdays beginning July 8, 2026 | 11:00 AM &ndash; 1:00 PM5 WeeksLed by Aiyla Khawaja Join us for a five-week program designed to help girls build confidence, communication skills, and self-expression through a combination of art, discussion, and public speaking. Inspired by Aiyla&#39;s own journey of finding confidence through art and debate, this program creates a supportive space where girls can explore important topics, share their ideas, and develop their voices.Each two-hour weekly session explores a different theme&mdash;including identity, voice and power, community, justice and equity, and stereotypes.&nbsp; Through creative art projects, guided discussions, and beginner-friendly debate activities, participants will learn how to express their thoughts with confidence, engage respectfully with differing perspectives, and think critically about the world around them. Perfect for both outgoing and introverted girls, this program encourages self-discovery, leadership, and meaningful friendships. By the end of the five weeks, participants will have strengthened their public speaking abilities, expanded their creative skills, and gained the confidence to make their voices heard.&nbsp; Scholarships are available for refugee families and others experiencing financial hardship. Dates:July 8July 15July 22July 29Aug 5 About the Instructor:Aiyla Khawaja is a student leader and debater; she will be a junior at James Madison High School in the 2026-2027 school year and has a strong interest in global inequality, environmental issues, and human rights. Aiyla has been actively involved in public forum debate, for the last two years, and will serve as Assistant Captain of the James Madison High School debate team, where she has mentored and led other debaters. She has also taught elementary school students through Odyssey Debate, which is an after school program focused on cultivating public speaking and critical thinking skills for younger students. Additionally, Aiyla serves as Vice President of her school&rsquo;s Model United Nations club, where she helps to facilitate discussions on global issues and diplomacy. Through these experiences, she has developed a strong ability to mentor and teach others about complex issues
