Finding Your Voice: Public Speaking &amp; Creative Expression for GirlsFor Girls Grades 4&ndash;6Fridays beginning Oct 9, 2026 | 5:15 PM &ndash; 7:15 PM7 WeeksInstructor: &nbsp;Aiyla Khawaja This fall, Mozaic is bringing together public speaking, creative writing, art, and debate in a 7-week program designed especially for girls in grades 4&ndash;7. Led by Aiyla Khawaja, the program creates an encouraging space where girls&mdash;especially those who may be shy or hesitant to speak up&mdash;can practice expressing their ideas, sharing their perspectives, and thinking creatively. Each week combines hands-on art and writing with speaking activities, discussions, impromptu speeches, and friendly debates on topics relevant to their world, including:&bull; AI in education &bull; Social media: good or bad? &bull; School uniforms vs. free dress &bull; Tablets vs. textbooks &bull; What makes an ideal community? Girls will learn practical techniques for organizing their thoughts, speaking with confidence, developing an argument, listening to different perspectives, and expressing themselves creatively through projects such as mosaics, comics, and mixed-media art. Scholarships are available for refugee families and others experiencing financial hardship. About the Instructor:Aiyla Khawaja is a student leader and debater. A junior at James Madison High School, she has a strong interest in global inequality, environmental issues, and human rights. Aiyla has been actively involved in public forum debate, for the last two years, and will serve as Assistant Captain of the James Madison High School debate team, where she has mentored and led other debaters. She has also taught elementary school students through Odyssey Debate, which is an after school program focused on cultivating public speaking and critical thinking skills for younger students. Additionally, Aiyla serves as Vice President of her school&rsquo;s Model United Nations club, where she helps to facilitate discussions on global issues and diplomacy. Through these experiences, she has developed a strong ability to mentor and teach others about complex issues
