This option is only available if our staff can pick-up at our convenience between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8th and return them during the same time frame on Friday, January 10th.

Transport of extinguishers for Downtown Businesses

In an effort to facilitate the easiest way for your business to follow <a href="https://www.osha.gov/laws-regs/regulations/standardnumber/1910/1910.157" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color:currentcolor;user-select:auto;box-sizing:inherit" target="_blank">OSHA Fire Protection and Prevention Safety Standards</a> to keep you and your employees safe, HDP is offering a bulk extinguisher servicing day. Here's how it works: January 6th: Before 5:00 pm, sign up for how many extinguishers you want serviced this time around. January 8th: Whether we transport them for you or you drop them off between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, all of the hydrants are collected and labeled at the Downtown Hive. January 9th: A qualified fire extinguisher technician from a local company will be checking and servicing all of the extinguishers. If any issues come up, HDP staff will be contacting you to check in on what how you want to resolve the issue. January 10th: Time for pickup of your extinguishers between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, or delivery back to you if you opted for transport.  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSQ: Who qualifies for this program?  A: This program is setup for small businesses in Downtown Hillsboro. But if you a business outside of the area or a resident that appreciates safety with ABC extinguishers in your home, you are welcome to participate - you just don't qualify for the transportation option. Q: Why do we need to have our fire extinguishers serviced every year?  A: Here are some standards from OSHA that apply:<ul><li style="box-sizing:inherit">The employer shall provide portable fire extinguishers and shall mount, locate and identify them so that they are readily accessible to employees without subjecting the employees to possible injury.</li><li style="box-sizing:inherit">The employer shall assure that portable fire extinguishers are maintained in a fully charged and operable condition. </li><li style="box-sizing:inherit">The employer shall assure that portable fire extinguishers are subjected to an annual maintenance check.</li></ul>Q: Why don't I see a credit card fee on this transaction?  A: We are now using <a href="https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/referral?referredByOrganizationId=6caa1166-e8f3-4658-b33f-e2aeeb05d6c5" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color:currentcolor;user-select:auto;box-sizing:inherit" target="_blank">Zeffy</a> as our platform because they cover all of the transaction fees including credit card fees and they don't charge us anything to use their platform! This means we can spend more money activating and elevating Downtown Hillsboro. This also means that you'll see them ask for a fee to support the services that offer for free to all non-profits, so if you can afford it, please throw them a few dollars because this is going to save HDP hundreds if not thousands of dollars every year.
