Swamp Rabbit Cafe Site

Check-in at Swamp Rabbit Cafe (Old Bleachery Road). We'll be set up in the northern corner of the parking lot, closest to the Hampton Ave Extension Bridge (this is a slightly different check-in spot from previous clean-ups at Riverside). Parking is available in the overflow parking lot of Mount Calvary Baptist Church (across from Swamp Rabbit Cafe) and the rear parking lot of Riverside Apartments. 

Focus here will be on cleaning the Reedy River behind Riverside Apartments and upstream from Swamp Rabbit Cafe between West Washington Street and the railroad crossing at East Bramlett Street.

This site is an in-the-water river sweep. Most volunteers should please be prepared to walk IN the river as most litter is in the river itself, not on the banks.

There are many shallow areas of water, but please bring waders if you have them as some areas with high concentrations of litter are in slightly deeper water and can be difficult to access otherwise. There are restrooms available at this location.

S. Hudson to Westfield Street, downstream of Unity Park

Check-in and park in the 355 S. Hudson St. Parking Lot (located behind A.J. Whittenberg Elementary School next to the Swamp Rabbit Trail)

This location’s volunteers will focus on removing litter from the river and the wetlands on either side of the Swamp Rabbit Trail between S. Hudson Street and Westfield Street and can move upstream in the river into Unity Park and downstream past Westfield Street if conditions allow.

Cleveland Park near Greenville Zoo

Please park in the Greenville Zoo’s secondary parking lot (the parking lot closest to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial).

Volunteers at this location will primarily be in the water, removing trash from the Reedy and its banks in Cleveland Park downstream to the south and upstream to the west. Most volunteers should be prepared to get in the water at this site. There are restrooms near this cleanup check-in location.

Cleveland Park near Greenville Zoo

Please park in the Greenville Zoo’s secondary parking lot (the parking lot closest to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial).

Volunteers at this location will primarily be in the water, removing trash from the Reedy and its banks in Cleveland Park downstream to the north and upstream to the east. Most volunteers should be prepared to get in the water at this site. There are restrooms near this cleanup check-in location.

Check in next to Cancer Survivor's Park meeting center. Park in the parking lot for CSP at 52 Cleveland Street or in the office building overflow lot next door at 24 Cleveland Street,

Clean-up efforts at this site will be directed downstream toward McDaniel Avenue with the possibility of some upstream work in Falls Park. The banks are steep in some areas, and most volunteers should be prepared to be in the water. The nearest restrooms are in Falls Park.
