Title: Measure Up

Medium: Woodstain and ink on panel

Statement: I love linking science with art, and bringing in some Easter eggs for a multi-functional piece, as well as utilize the properties of the medium to its best. I wanted to represent a popular dinosaur, the velociraptor, and the actual size of its skull (9.6 inches), to help put in perspective the size of the dinosaurs! It may be smaller than what we think of typical "Jurassic Park" dinosaurs, but even so, this is still a large walking reptile! The four bars behind represent the four million years of the velociraptor's dominance across the Cretaceous, the true reign of the most popular dinosaurs.

Title: Ticky Tacky Little Boxes

Medium: Acrylic

Statement: Many of the 55 murals I’ve painted depict shelters of some kind but this is an intuitive practice that allows me to play, a practice that is hard to convince a patron to trust the process when even I don’t know the outcome. Painting with music in my ears and no plan until the very end when lines pull shapes together into a skeleton of a shelter. I have been lucky to paint three murals with this process. Thanks to all the patrons who let the artists play.
