☀️ Join us for AAJIL&rsquo;s Foundations, the second leg of our Core Community Racial Justice Trainings, facilitated by AAJIL founder and board member; Dr. Sandra So Hee Chi Kim! ☀️ This first session will be HYBRID (in person at The People&#39;s Forum at 320 W 37th St and virtual via Zoom.)&nbsp; 🌱 These sessions focus on aspects of systemic racism that ideologies of whiteness strategically invisibilize: the function of Asian racializations and oppressions within a white-dominant societal complex built upon anti-Indigenous and anti-Black infrastructures. 🌱 ✨SESSION 1 - History of &ldquo;Asian American&rdquo; Identity✨This session explores the origin and history of &ldquo;Asian American&rdquo; identity, both as a racial construct and as a political movement, as well as the origin of the model minority stereotype and its function within white supremacy. These 3 sessions comprise the Foundations level of AAJIL&#39;s Core Community Racial Justice Trainings. The third and final level of AAJIL&rsquo;s Core Community Racial Justice Trainings will be Formations.&nbsp; Formations is AAJIL&#39;s 8-month community leadership development program dedicated to developing justice-minded leaders who center community, decolonial values, and emergent strategy. Participants must attend all 3 Foundations sessions to be eligible. The program: - is built upon emergent strategy, decolonial values, and an ethics of solidarity- focuses on supporting a small cohort of community lab organizers- is free + leads to a certificate upon completion- meets online from ~Sep 2026 to ~May 2027 These sessions are being offered on a pay-what-you-can basis.
