In this session, we will take a deeper look into the various identities within the gender and sexuality gradient, as well as briefly introduce different dynamics, structures, and roles within relationships. We will also learn terminology that surrounds those various communities and identities, outlining a descriptivist approach to research in working languages. Special considerations for interpreting for these communities and identities will be examined. We will discuss not only the impact our language (spoken or signed) can have on the individuals we interpret for, but also our interpreting colleagues. During the workshop:- We will be using the chat feature pretty heavily so please make sure you have access to participate. - We ask folks to participate in group discussions so please make sure you have access to a microphone, the chat, or another form of communication that you are most comfortable with. - When you have something to say - please make sure you state your name before making your comment. If you feel comfortable giving a visual description of yourself the first time you talk, that is amazing too and would make things more accessible.
