Girl Talk: Stepping Back into Style is a day event where middle & high school girls are introduced to adult female mentors from various organizations to spend a day getting to know each other as the shop for back to school clothes. For Our Kids NY, Inc. has partnered with Old Navy located at the Green Acres Mall In Valley Stream, NY this is our first annual back to school event at this location. The girls and their mentors are welcomed with light refreshments, given a branded Old Navy shopping bag to start their shopping spree. As the mentors guide and get familiar with the mentees this allows for wonderful opportunities to talk about academic goals and future aspirations. Each young lady will leave the event with the their first day of school outfit in addition a new book to kickoff this years Alice Walker book club cohort.
