Ready to learn how to graft? Or is it just time to "up" your grafting game? Join us for our hands-on dormant wood grafting class, to be held on Sunday, February 16th, at the Santa Cruz Live Oak Grange, 1900 17th Avenue in Santa Cruz, from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $25 and includes the class, a potted Geneva 890 apple rootstock, and your choice from a selection of delicious apple scions. Bring a plastic bag for any rootstock you hope to purchase.

Everyone can learn to graft!  Don't be intimidated. We will demonstrate and explain a simple, efficient grafting technique. Next, you'll participate in a guided practice session where you perform cuts on sample twigs to get a hands-on feel for the process. Afterward, you'll select a scion to graft onto your rootstock, giving you the opportunity to create your very own tree. Throughout the session, our experienced mentors will be there to coach and support you. This streamlined method works for grafting all types of fruit trees. Once you learn how to graft, the sky's the limit on all of the wonderful varieties you can grow in your home orchard!

Ready for the Next Level? For those who have some basic experience with grafting, we'll offer a breakout group to learn a whip-and-tongue graft and explore some advanced grafting techniques.

Pre-Order Your Supplies. We're happy to announce that we were able to source some Krymsk 86 stonefruit rootstock and also have some apple, plum, and pear rootstock available. We also have cut-resistant gloves available. Pre-order your supplies now, as there might not be any left at the event. Your admission includes one apple rootstock and scion.
