We will be celebrating Vanessa Guillen, a Solider who was brutally murdered after going through an MST occurrence within her unit. House bill 2248 was passed in by the offices of Josey Garcia in 2023, to enact “Vanessa Guillen Day” in Texas, which is on September 30th every year. SDL inception was inspired by this day and the chance at seeing justice and change for MST survivors and their family. We will celebrate with a Tex-Mex dinner and keynote speaker; Michelle Deal will speak on military sexual trauma and the importance of awareness and advocacy. This is a heavenly birthday for Vanessa, as she would have been 26 this year. Come celebrate her life and stay informed about the effects MST has on individuals and their families.
