Come tour 12 beautiful houses and 3 gracious gardens scattered throughout the historic Castine village. Stately 18th and 19th century homes, charming Victorian summer cottages, striking contemporary houses and fabulous gardens are all part of this Tour. A sneak preview of just a few of the homes include: a former Castine Sail Loft, where sails were sewn in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; a newly built modern home impeccably designed and creatively decorated with spectacular views of Castine Harbor; and a historic Italianate pink stucco home dating to the 1920&rsquo;s being renovated to its former glory.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Castine Historical Society&rsquo;s archives document House and Garden Tours being held in Castine as far back as 1924. A tradition in Castine for over a century, these rare tours happen every four to six years and offer history, classic and modern architecture, maritime, and horticultural buffs alike an opportunity to experience the delights of an almost island-like seaside village in July, when gardens are at their peak, blueberries abound, and the sunlight on the water sparkles like diamonds. &nbsp;
