Misinformation is not a singular problem involving a false belief, but a variety of issues that shape the information environment that enables misinformation. Everything from influencers, state sponsored disinformation, algorithms, bot armies, offline communities, as well as AI tools, all dynamically shape increasingly siloed information environments. Understanding which part of these complex problems &nbsp;are opportunities for a given scenario is the key to making a practical difference. Information Utility Analysis was developed as a framework to help identify these opportunities. It was originally conceptualized during the creation of a new media literacy and critical thinking course for the Public Health Association of BC, which is currently used in hundreds of schools across Canada. This approach was subsequently refined over several years for the World Health Organization&rsquo;s Department of Communications. In this session we will be introducing this framework by providing an explanation of the editorial choices made in an example media literacy course, supplemented by practical learnings gained from working on global health misinformation.
