WE CAN CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN TOGHETHER Solano Foster Connection is an IRC charitable organization that supports resource families (foster, adoptive, guardianship and kinship) to provide safe and healthy homes for children not able to live with their parents. Most people understand that a resource (foster) family is a home that has been opened for placement of children who are under the custody and protection of a county child welfare department. Today, county child welfare departments rely heavily on resource parents that are relatives such as grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts/uncles, and close friends of the families they serve. &nbsp;We also support other caregivers who take in children through a probate guardianship, an affidavit of caregiver, or through entirely informal loving acceptance of the children.&nbsp; Solano County Resource Family Association (SCRFA) has operated for 8 years under the umbrella of the California State Foster Parent Association (Chapter #45). In 2025, the SCRFA leadership undertook the bold step of obtaining recognition as an independent entity. The transition to independence will be complete with the new name of Solano Foster Connection &nbsp;Effective in mid-2026, Solano Foster Connection will take over all SCRFA functions in Solano County including administering grants for the direct benefit of foster children (e.g., extracurricular activity allowance), foster parents (e.g., emergency food services, respite services) and other resource families. Solano Foster Connection also hosts educational activities such as training for foster parents; and social activities such as the annual picnic. Solano Foster Connection also operates a resource service to provide families &nbsp;emergency clothing, back-to-school supplies, age-appropriate toys/games, and hygiene items. With assistance of additional individual and organizational community sponsors, Solano Foster Connection also distributes holiday meals and Christmas gifts to provide for the needs of over 300 children each year. Current operating expenses are funded through a grant that is set to expire on June 30, 2026. All funds raised through the Gala will be used to meet operating expenses for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.&nbsp;
