Chicago Women in STEM Initiative is excited to welcome you to our 8th annual Chicago Women in STEM Symposium in celebration of International Women&rsquo;s Day (IWD) 2025. The theme of this year&#39;s symposium is Finding Your Seat in the Room. This event aims to address the disappointing statistics regarding the representation of women in STEM-related careers by hosting a variety of speakers who will share their stories and provide valuable information about resilience, empowerment, and breaking through both visible and invisible barriers in STEM. Symposium schedule: 2:00 - 2:10 - Welcome and sponsor introductions 2:10 - 2:55 - An interactive workshop on using AI in STEM fields, led by Catherine Gao, MD, MS, an expert in the field of applying machine learning to STEM data. 2:55 - 3:10 - Coffee break and networking 3:10 - 4:10 - Our keynote speaker, Suzanne Provanzana, PE, SE, a structural engineer and discipline lead for the US region of the global engineering consultancy firm Buro Happold. She will be focusing on career trajectory and how she has succeeded in a field that remains male-dominated. 4:10 - 5:00 - A Q&amp;A panel session featuring local women leaders in STEM discussing their paths breaking into their current roles and sharing advice for those who aim to enter into either academia or industry and progress in their careers. 5:00 - 7:00&nbsp;- A networking reception that will facilitate conversations and interactions amongst early career women, volunteers, speakers, facilitators, and additional local female role models in STEM. PLUS&nbsp;- Opportunities to interact with representatives from our initiative&rsquo;s partner and sponsor organizations in industry, academia, law, and local non-profits.
