Join us in creating a fun, FREE family event for Afghan refugee families who were brought to the U.S. legally after the fall of Afghanistan in 2021. These families were relocated because their lives were at risk — many of the parents served alongside the U.S. military and government for years, some for over two decades. On Friday, June 28, we’re hosting Black Feather Day to Play at the Jerome "Buddie" Ford Nature Center in Alexandria, VA — and we need volunteers and team leaders to help make the day run smoothly and give these families a warm, welcoming experience! 🛠 Volunteer Roles Include: – Leading groups of children through four rotating activity stations – Keeping kids engaged in sports and outdoor games (with VOLO and Flag Star Football hosting volleyball and flag football!) – Helping with registration and dividing kids into groups – Making sure children stay on track and enjoy each session 🌿 Kids will explore live animals and nature through hands-on learning, get active with sports, learn about health and wellness, and access helpful family resources. 📍 Location: 5750 Sanger Ave, Alexandria, VA 22311 🕐 Volunteer arrival: Please arrive by 12:15 PM 🕓 Event runs: 1:00–4:00-4:40 PM (Volunteers may wrap up by 4:30) Come be part of something meaningful — we’d love to have you on the team!
