Explore Jung's use of astrology as a map of the psyche! Jung proposed the existence of the Collective Unconscious, filled with universal inherited symbols known as archetypes. An avid student of the art of astrology, he understood the astrological mandala as a map of the individual’s psyche. In his famous 1947 letter to the astrologer B.V. Raman, Jung wrote, “in cases of difficult psychological diagnosis, I usually get a horoscope in order to have a further point of view from an entirely different angle.” This presentation will not only explore Jung’s connection and uses of astrological studies in his work and theories but will also have actual demonstrations of the astrological map with volunteers from the audience. With over five decades of professional practice, Alexander Mallon blends astrological counseling/consulting with his background in Clinical Art Therapy and Body Centered Gestalt training. Throughout the years, Alexander has been featured on numerous radio and television programs, and since 2011 he has been the keynote speaker at Professor Robert Thurman’s Menla Winter Solstice Retreat, a healing and lecture center of Tibet House U.S.A., in the Catskill mountains of N.Y.
