She arrived severely underweight and medically fragile and required emergency veterinary care. She fought through hospitalization, gained weight, was spayed and eventually made her way into an amazing foster home.  But during her spay, her veterinarian discovered a serious problem. KERMIT’S AIRWAY IS EXTREMELY SMALL.Her trachea is almost the size of a cat’s trachea.In fact, the veterinary team had an extremely difficult time intubating her during her spay and had to use an intubation tube normally used for cats because her airway is so tiny.Her vet also discovered:🐾 An elongated soft palate obstructing her airway 🐾 Enlarged tonsils contributing to the obstruction 🐾 Laryngeal saccules contributing to the blockage 🐾 A severely restricted airway affecting her ability to breathe properly Kermit needs BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery, scheduled for August 24.Because of her incredibly small airway and the multiple structures that need to be addressed, this will be a very high-risk procedure. ❤️ KERMIT HAS ALREADY FOUGHT SO HARDAbout a week and a half after her spay, Kermit became pretty stuffy and threw up some food.Because of her airway abnormalities and the concern for aspiration, she was taken to the veterinarian to make sure she had not developed aspiration pneumonia. Thankfully, it turned out to be the beginning of an upper respiratory infection.
