Beginner French for Ages 8–12Format: 8 sessions, 45 minutes each Course Description Beginner French for Ages 8–12 introduces students to practical, everyday French through an engaging, low-pressure immersion environment. Students will build confidence through repetition, conversation, games, movement, visuals, and interactive activities while keeping English use to a minimum. Rather than focusing heavily on grammar or written exercises, the course emphasizes listening, speaking, vocabulary building, and using French in meaningful situations. Each class will revisit previously learned language while gradually adding new vocabulary and conversational structures. Instructional ApproachTo ensure that students best use and understand the language, lessons use a scaffolded immersion approach with extensive repetition and visual support. Activities may include partner conversations, movement games, role-play, picture and object identification, listening activities, simple reading, and interactive challenges. Course GoalsBy the end of the eight-session course, students will be able to greet others, introduce themselves, ask and answer simple questions, express likes and dislikes, recognize common vocabulary, and participate in short practical exchanges in French. Instructor: Caroline Ridout, M. Ed
