Abhinaya Intensive by Sreelakshmy Govardhanan

10290 Chapel Hill Rd Ste 200

Morrisville, NC 27560, USA

Intensive Group
$250

Composition:

Ēkadunnāvu Nā Chakkani Sāmi is a beautiful Telugu jāvali

written by Dharmapuri Subbarayar.

The heroine is not a woman passively waiting sadly for her lover. She is emotionally intelligent, familiar with his ways, and confident enough to question him, tease him, and even sulk with him. The charm of the piece lies in this subtle emotional play, she moves effortlessly between “I am upset with you” and “I still want you,” expressing both with wit, affection, and restraint.

Prerequisites for Participants:

    * Around 7 years of dance training, with a good grounding in the vocabulary

    * Prior experience with Abhinaya is preferred

    * An openness and readiness to explore beyond familiar ways of thinking, interpreting, and expressing

    * Willingness to explore new body dynamics

    * A genuine intention to experiment, question, and make the piece their own, rather than simply reproduce what is taught.

The class is intended for dancers who have the maturity and curiosity to engage deeply with Abhinaya and discover their own interpretation of the piece.
