Kyle Butler: Commotion Friday, October 23, 2026 7:00–9:00 PM TENfold Gallery 225 Louisiana Street, Buffalo, NY Join us at TENfold Gallery for the public opening of Kyle Butler: Commotion, a new solo exhibition bringing together painting, printmaking and sculpture. In Commotion, Butler takes the familiar visual language of the built environment, roads, fencing, signs, industrial structures, architecture and overlooked back lots, and subjects it to processes of distortion, fragmentation and reconstruction. His new paintings begin with imagery captured through mapping software, which Butler manipulates digitally before translating it into paint. Fragments of architecture, text and recognizable spaces remain, but become increasingly unstable, moving between representation, abstraction and visual noise. The exhibition also includes a new body of unique screenprints and large-scale monoprints created during Butler’s week-long residency at Mirabo Press as part of The Raft Residency, an artist-support initiative developed by Art Resource/TENfold Gallery in honor of artist, educator, curator, gallerist and arts champion Elisabeth Samuels. Butler is the first artist to undertake The Raft’s intensive residency component, making Commotion the first exhibition to bring work from that residency back into TENfold. The exhibition will also feature sculptural installations incorporating layered fields of chain-link fencing, transforming a familiar material associated with separation and control into something organic and unruly. The Raft began with exhibition booklets created alongside projects by DJ Carr and Abe Ferraro. Butler’s exhibition will also culminate in a publication documenting the work and the residency process. Come celebrate the opening, meet the artist, and experience this exciting new body of work. Friday, October 23 7:00–9:00 PM TENfold Gallery 225 Louisiana Street, Buffalo Free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated.
