This class is for anyone who loves their bike, who wants to ride more than they currently do, and who has so many questions about it they don&#39;t know where to start! What type of brakes do I have? Where are the brake pads? How-why-when do I oil the chain? What size tires and wheels do I have? What are some basic and not overwhelming things I can do to keep my bike happy and safe?&nbsp; Participants will have the opportunity to learn the specs of their own bike through hands on exploration. They will have a chance to oil their chain, pump their tires, and ask alllllll of the questions they&#39;ve had and haven&#39;t known how to ask in a safe and welcoming environment! Please note: This class is aimed more at commuter or around town bikes as opposed to mountain bikes. Great time to bring in your road/ gravel/ bikepacking /commuter/ project bike! What to bring: Your bike! &nbsp;If you have a multi tool or tube repair kit or any other tools that you carry with you but don&#39;t quite know how to use, bring them along as well! Also we recommend bringing along some dinner or snack items if you would like. When:&nbsp;Wednesday, May 20, class is 6:00-8:00 pm with an optional extra hour for questions and wrenching from 8:00-9:00 pm.&nbsp; Where: The Hub Community Bike Shop Who: This is a class for adult (18+) women, non-binary, and femme-identifying folks. About the Instructor: Our class is taught by the wonderful Melanie Danner! Melanie has lived in Bellingham for 19 years and spent the first 7 or so working at The Hub Bike Shop repairing and building bikes, and teaching folks how to work on their own bikes. For a few years between 2013 and 2016 she also ran a small project called Sterling Bike Works, providing used bikes to kids and teaching them how to ride safely and work on their own bikes. In 2013 she attended the United Bicycle Institute&#39;s Professional Repair Course and earned a Bicycle Technician Certification. Child-rearing and gainful employment have drawn her away from wrenching for a number of years but she is excited for the opportunity to once again help folks become familiar with the basic functioning of their beloved bikes!
