Join us for the Lake Allegan Carp Derby! This community event has two main goals: one, to remove invasive common carp species from Lake Allegan, and two, to educate the community about aquatic invasive species and how to prevent their spread.&nbsp; Once registration is completed on this site, fishers can start collecting carp in Lake Allegan any time after midnight on June 13th by any legal means, and fishing must stop by 11 AM. The weigh-in station will be open at 7 AM, and fishers can bring all their carp any time from 7 to 11:30 AM. There will be food trucks and tabling activities starting at 11 AM, and prizes will be announced at 11:45! Concurrently with the event, we will have an AIS Landing Blitz, where boaters leaving the water can have their boat checked for aquatic invasive species and then cleaned and dried, following the &quot;Clean, Drain, Dry&quot; messaging that all boaters should follow. Invasive species, whether terrestrial or aquatic, are species introduced to a region that wreak havoc because they usually have some combination of characteristics that make them aggressive spreaders, reproducers, and/or predators. Last year, the largest carp caught was 35.4&quot; long and 24 pounds! Can you beat that?
