It willtake about 30 minutes from this point to reach camp. At the first Y youcome to, stay left. Stay on the main road until the next Y and you will goright. The first campground is run by DNR and the second by BLM. There is a likelihood that the DNR campground won't be maintained due to budget cuts. Practically speaking this means be sure to bring your own toilet paper, and plan to carry out all your trash. Most members will be camping. The last 7 miles plus of driving is on a steep and sometimes rough gravel road, but some people do bring smaller RVs for their accommodations. An option is to stay at Spectacle Lake Resort, about a 45 minute drive from Lake Chopaka. They have both motel and full hookup camping available. You will want to call them for reservations as this is opening weekend. Big Twin: There is a full service campground at Big Twin Resort. In this small town you will turn left where there is a sign to the Many Lakes Area of Washington. Lake Chopaka is part of this area. Follow that highway until you come to the very small town of Loomis. At this point you can look across the valley and see the long narrow gravel road going up the side of the mountain that will lead to Lake Chopaka. Continue through Loomis, turn right, and then cross the valley toward the road up the mountain. You will make a switchback turn to your right to start the trek up the gravel road. You may very well think that this road could not possibly be the road to a campground, but it is! It will take about 30 minutes from this point to reach camp. At the first obvious Y you come to, stay left! You will see an arrow at this point pointing to the left to get to the lake. Stay on the main road until the next obvious Y and take a right turn.
