The school&#39;s novel approach to architectural design had a direct influence on the New Canaan&#39;s Harvard Five who were taught by Walter Gropius, the founder of the Bauhaus.&nbsp; Gropius came to America as a refugee from Fascism, was hired by Harvard to teach there and in the process radically transformed the school&#39;s curriculum to reflect the Bauhaus vision.
