This tour will last&nbsp;approximately&nbsp;1.5 hours and&nbsp;covers approximately 1&nbsp;mile.&nbsp; This narrated and guided walking tour will begin at Laurel&rsquo;s historic Baltimore &amp; Ohio Railroad Station and follow down Main Street, featuring the site of a Civil War encampment, the Citizens National Bank Building, and the location of the Avondale Mill before it burned down in 1991. This tour will examine the evolution of the town as a commercial district in the 19th century through discussion of historic structures that housed businesses and families, and how fires shaped Laurel.&nbsp; This project has been financed in part with State Funds from the Maryland Historical Trust, an agency of the Maryland Department of Planning which is an instrumentality of the State of Maryland. Thank you for registering for the Laurel Historical Society&#39;s Main Street Walking Tour. This walking tour will last approximately 1.5 hours and covers just over 1 mile of walking (including the walk back to the museum). The tour will begin and end at Laurel&#39;s historic B&amp;O Station (now the Laurel MARC Station) at 22 Main Street. We encourage guests wear cool, comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Meeting Time &amp; Location: Attendees will meet at the historic B&amp;O Station/Laurel MARC Station (22 Main Street). We suggest that attendees meet at the station at 9:45 AM as the tour will leave promptly at 10 AM. Public restrooms will not be available before the tour departs. Parking: Free and ample parking is available at the Laurel MARC Station parking lot.&nbsp; This tour will be held rain or shine.&nbsp;Ticket cancellations will be considered a donation to the Laurel Historical Society.
