Many of us will spend months or even years rewriting the first 100 pages, never seeming to be able to get past the end of the beginning. In this masterclass we will discuss strategies to help get you ready to start a new novel or revise an old one. Many writers refer to themselves as &quot;pantsers&quot; meaning they write &quot;by the seat of their pants.&quot; This means making things up as they go, and letting the story and characters reveal themselves as they write These acts of intuition happen whether we make a concrete plan or not, so why not set yourself up for success. This workshop is not about making detailed outlines that you must commit to following, but more about creating tools and reference points that will get you to the end. Spataro runs the MFA in Creative Writing and MA in Publishing programs at Rosemont College. She created and designed the novel writing track, which is a featured part of the Rosemont MFA program. Many of these students have gone on to sign with agents and publish their work with Big Five Publishers and Independent Presses. Spataro is an award-winning short fiction writer whose work has appeared in many literary magazines and anthologies including Taboos &amp; Transgressions, Iron Horse Literary Review, december,&nbsp;Sequestrum, and Exacting Clam. Her debut novel, MORE STRANGE THAN TRUE (Sagging Meniscus Press) was named to Reactor&rsquo;s Can&rsquo;t Miss Indie Speculative Books for Spring 2024.
