LXCL:Two hours to connect with your inner sources of strength and resilience in gentle community with other artists.

Meditation for Artists - Connecting to your Refuge Tree

Join us for an evening meditation designed to connect you with your deepest source of refuge and well-being, during these unsettling times. This practice is an evolution of a benefactor practice developed in Stanford University’s Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) program. Come together in community to deepen our individual and shared resilience. This event is part of our "Soft Place to Land" exhibition and participation in Portland Textile Month. You’ll be asked to envision an outdoor environment with a tree that you can lean against and be supported by. This tree will be your Refuge Tree. The meditation takes us through envisioning people (including our loved ones, friends, colleagues or even strangers who have been kind or helpful), our pets, and even places that evoke a sense of peace, care or beneficence for us. We then commune with them; being held in their loving wish for our well-being. People often report feeling calmer, more centered, and more connected and less alone. This practice is suitable for anyone--experienced with meditation or not. Meditation/guided imagery will last about 60-75 minutes, with time for sharing, and gently building community at the end. The meditation is led by certified CCT teacher and Gallery 114 Member, Dawn-Starr Crowther Limited to 20 participants.Free of charge.
