Part 1: February 2 9:30am-12:30pmPart 2: February 9 9:30am-12:30pm Participants must complete 1-2 hours of pre-work and both days of training in order to receive certification in Mental Health First Aid USA for Adults. Mental Health First Aid for Adults is an 8-hour course (1-2 hours self paced online pre-work, plus 6 hours in-person divided into two consecutive Sunday mornings) that teaches adult community members how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in other adults. The training, meant for non-mental health professionals, provides the skills one needs to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. What You LearnIn this training you&rsquo;ll learn how to help people ages 18 and older. Topics include anxiety, depression, psychosis and substance use. You&rsquo;ll be able to:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Understand the impact of early intervention</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Recognize the signs and symptoms with skills-based scenarios</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Explain and use the MHFA Action Plan</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Address stigma and explain that recovery is possible</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Ensure safety and privacy during conversations</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Choose methods for self-care for yourself and others</li></ul>Facilitated by Tracie Bernstein, Founder and Director of Nourishing the Soul (NTS), a certified Mental Health First Aider and Trainer. She is also the facilitator for Fayette Factor&rsquo;s Jewish Community Workshop and Online Toolkit for Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Recovery. Cost includes course materials and certificate.
