Join us at Harvard’s new 50 Church Street Studios in Cambridge on Tuesday, May 26th at 6:00 PM for an evening with Peter Grinalds of Grinalds Solutions, an audio product development engineering firm based in Cincinnati! Audio engineers spend many hours to achieve the best possible sound in a professional studio using world-class production equipment and tailored room acoustics. &nbsp;However, most listeners will hear music through far more constrained playback systems, such as wireless speakers, ANC headphones, and earbuds. This presentation covers how audio quality is modified from the original master through real-world consumer playback paths, with a live demonstration comparing analog, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi transport. Topics include the major tradeoffs regarding codecs, such as SBC, LC3, and aptX®, latency, bandwidth, reliability, and system architecture, with the goal to help both content creators and product development engineers better understand how these technologies shape the end-customer’s listening experience.
