Participants will have the opportunity to play together in a variety of improvisational formats.  Topics Covered will include:<ul><li>Improvising within harmonic (including the study of Modes) and rhythmic frameworks (similar but not limited to Jazz and Rock idioms/structures).</li><li>Conceptual, abstract and free improvisation </li><li>Improvisation in the realm of New Music</li><li>Collective composition/improvisation</li><li>Thematic and motivic development</li><li>Phrase construction, dynamics and tone</li><li>Mirroring and contrasting expressions</li><li>Posture and attention</li><li>Breathing, space and phrasing </li><li>Psychological and social dynamics of playing with others</li><li>Discovery, revelation and inspiration</li></ul>Participants will also have the opportunity to play some of Mr. Roberts’ and other composers’ compositions which will utilize a variety of improvisational concepts inspired from composed material.
