Pianist Ali Tolga Demirtas is a noted composer and jazz pianist who has played at major festivals in Europe, and Luanne Homzy is an award-winning composer, violinist, and concertmaster. Both share a love of gypsy jazz, and this evening they will show how film scores, classical pieces, and other unlikely compositions gain dramatic energy when played in this dramatic style. You will hear music that is new to you, and also pieces you know as you have never heard them before. Ankara-born Ali Tolga Demirtas began his musical career as a child, learning both Turkish and Western Classical music, including studying jazz p[piano at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He began winning awards for composition is 2010, and released his first album in 2016. After playing concerts in Turkey, Bulgaria, and Canada, he moved to LosAngeles and has been a guest performer on other artist&rsquo;s albums. He plays skillfully on the violin, viola, cello, double bass, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, flute, ney, oud, cumbus, guitar, drums, and percussion, and also sings. His contemporary solo jazz piano album &ldquo;Moments&rdquo; was recently released, and contains six improvised tracks. Disney Hall, and at festivals all over the world. &nbsp;Ms. Homzy performs world wide with crossover supergroup Trio Dinicu, hailed as &ldquo;dazzling&rdquo; by the San Francisco Chronicle.
