This 53”x74 quilt is full of bold colors is made of 100% cotton with 80/20 batting. It was machine quilted by Cynthia Abramson.
I have been involved with the NE MN Synod quilt auction for over 10 years and each year I try to make one or two quilts to submit. I found this kit thumbing through a Connecting Threads catalog. I liked the colors and the look of the pattern so I bought it. It is made up of two different block patterns. The block with the pinwheel center went together easily. I can't say the same for the block with the hourglass center. That block has 54 pieces in it. It was a challenge keeping it square. I won't be making this patten again anytime soon.

This beautiful quilt was a kit from Connecting Threads that I purchased several years ago. I’m trying to complete all the unfinished projects in my stash. The quilt is 56”x67” and made of 100% cotton with 80/20 batting. It was machine quilted by Cynthia Abramson.
I have been involved with the NE MN Synod quilt auction for over 10 years and each year I try to make one or two quilts to submit. This one was a kit that caught my eye in a Connecting Threads catalog. It's all strips, ‘how hard can it be’ I say to myself :)) It is made up of 10 fabrics that all had to be cut into 1 7/8" strips and labeled so I didn't get them mixed up when it came time to assemble. Assembling blocks with strips that are different lengths was tricky and of course then they all had to be squared up. Surprisingly they all nested together and the finished quilt turned out correct.

"Crumb" quilts use any width or length of an infinite variety of fabrics without the need to match corners for a planned design. Years of quilting provides an unlimited resource. This first attempt at crumb blocks appeared quite ugly until it was laid out with solid dark borders. Then the quilt appeared to dance with joy. Like life, a rich variety of colors, styles, and perspectives, contained within supportive and equal values, makes truly vibrant harmony.
I have rarely missed a meal, although a frequent childhood menu was "red noodles", or hamburger hotdish with scant crumbs of meat. But I have seen obvious extreme hunger and poverty in Eritrea and Ethiopia. There are more subtle signs of it in our communities. If my small, loved quilt can be of service to someone in need, may it go on dancing!
Description: 40" x 50", cotton fabrics and batting, machine pieced and quilted, machine wash and dry cool and gentle. Because of the variety of fabrics, to prevent bleeding of a dye, add 1-2 Shout Color Catcher sheets (included) to the first wash.
