Seating/Optional dinner begins at 5:15 pmPresentation runs 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm How did Dayton begin, and what was life like in the city before it became the community we know today? Join local historian Andrew Hershner for a look back at Dayton’s earliest years, beginning with the city’s settlement and founding in 1796. Learn about Dayton’s founding fathers, the people who built the fledgling community, and the forces that shaped its growth. The presentation will explore everyday life in early Dayton as well as the industries, businesses, and innovations that helped transform a small frontier settlement into a growing American city. Following Dayton’s story through the 19th century and into the beginning of the 20th century, Andrew will bring together the people, places, and developments that laid the foundation for modern Dayton. We are open to the general public. Our venue is fully accessible with a ramp entrance. Cancellations must be requested at least three days prior to the event. No refunds will be given after that date.
