Italian Folk Music & Tamburello Workshop

Connect with Italian heritage through the traditional songs and sounds of Italy! Classes are 7-8:15p.m. on the following Mondays:Sept 21, 28Oct 5Nov 16, 23, 30 Fee: &nbsp;$120 for the 6-class session Italian Folk Music Group: Voice, Rhythm and TamburelloJoin percussionist Anthony Taddeo for a six-session musical experience exploring traditional Italian folk music through voice, rhythm, and history. Drawing on more than a decade of research, Anthony will introduce participants to authentic folk songs from the Alla Boara repertoire and Alan Lomax field recordings while sharing the stories, traditions and cultural significance behind the music. Participants will learn traditional songs as a group and explore the tamburello, Italy&rsquo;s traditional frame drum, including its distinctive rhythms and playing techniques. Each session will build upon the previous one as the group develops its repertoire. Participants will also have the option to perform with Alla Boara on December 4 at Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland. <a fr-original-style="" href="//www.allaboara.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">www.allaboara.com</a>&nbsp; No prior musical experience is necessary, although some comfort with singing will be helpful. Bring your voice, your curiosity and a willingness to learn alongside others! Because this is a collaborative musical group rather than a series of individual drop-in classes, participants must register for the full six-session workshop and commit to attending at least four sessions.&nbsp; Participants may attend the first session and receive a full refund if they decide the group is not the right fit for them. While created with Italian Americans in mind, the group welcomes anyone interested in experiencing and preserving Italy&rsquo;s rich musical traditions.
