The piece is a beautiful sunflower with an inner glimpse of an art fairy expressing her perspective of the sunflower field before her on canvas. Her tiny flower light on her art table illuminates her pallete, brush and afternoon tea. I personally love sunflowers, painting, and fairies and had a lot of fun creating this piece.

This piece was inspiried by my love of reading before bed. The moon beams wash over us as we dream. The illuminated crescent moon encompasses a small clutch of literary adventures.

My piece reminds me of home culturally. It also honors my grandpa's favorite character to add to his cabin models he used to make.

Habeus Corpus*** was created from found objects collected on a local lakeshore in the wake of the murders of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti while in the midst of the unlawful, unconstitutional, and inhumane occupation of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is dedicated to the courageous people under siege by a domestic army waging war against its own citizens and those seeking asylum from other lands, as well as those who have lost their lives in detainment under questionable circumstances: Parady La, Luis Gustavo Núñez Cáceres, Geraldo Lunas Campos, Víctor Manuel Díaz, Luis Beltrán Yáñez–Cruz, Heber Sánchez Domínguez, the 32 souls who lost their lives in 2025, and to those, including children, who continue to be held without due process. *US Constitution: Article I, Section 9, Clause 2: The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it. **1215 Magna Carta - Clause 39: No Freeman shall be taken or imprisoned, or be disseized of his Freehold, or Liberties, or free Customs, or be outlawed, or exiled, or any other wise destroyed; nor will We not pass upon him, nor condemn him, but by lawful judgment of his Peers, or by the Law of the land.

Found items. bullets, broken porcelain doll, doll house furniture, acrylic paint. The white picket fence is a metaphor for what we aspire to as Americans. It has the meaning of safety, comfort and a home. This seems less likely as the American dream is in grave danger.

what happens when we give ourselves the chance to look outside — or, rather, through — the box of what’s presented to us? in this case, i invite you to contemplate what’s on the OUTSIDE of the box(es), then look THROUGH the smaller box (the heart of the figure, made from a redwood tree whose DNA is more complex than that of humans) to glimpse what’s inside in the glow of (human made) candlelight. finally, OPEN the larger box to reveal “What’s Possible” when we open to and consider the BIGGER PICTURE.
deconstructed wooden box, shoe box & collage
