OPENING RECEPTION &amp; PROGRAMMINGSaturday, May 30, 2026EMECO House, Venice, California (street parking)Doors Open: 5:00 PMOpening Program: 6:00&ndash;6:25 PMReception &amp; Exhibition Viewing: 6:25&ndash;8:00 PMThe Opening Reception on May 30 will mark the public debut of more than 30 handcrafted miniature landmarks, schools, businesses, homes, and community spaces recreated as part of the Pali&ndash;Altadena Collective. Developed in response to the January 2025 wildfires, the exhibition brings together memory, storytelling, and community participation to preserve the places and experiences that shaped Pacific Palisades and Altadena.The evening is designed as both an artistic unveiling and a community gathering&mdash;a moment to honor what was lost while celebrating the resilience, creativity, and spirit of those rebuilding.The opening program will feature brief remarks from project founder Luca Dal Bello; EMECO House host Jaye Buchbinder; curator and writer Mika Yoshitake; and architect Professor Hitoshi Abe of UCLA. Together, their reflections will explore memory, place, community, and the role of art and architecture in recovery and rebuilding.Throughout the evening, guests will be invited to participate in the exhibition through a series of interactive experiences. Community members may record oral histories, contribute memories to the evolving archive, and place miniature figures throughout the exhibition as a symbolic act of reconnecting people to the homes, schools, businesses, and gathering places represented in the models. Members of the Pali&ndash;Altadena Collective Youth Board will help collect oral histories and community stories throughout the exhibition.Families and children are invited to participate in a Memory Keychain Workshop, where visitors can create miniature keepsakes inspired by their favorite places, memories, and stories from the Palisades and Altadena.
