He led Saint Joseph&#39;s to seven NCAA Tournaments and six National Invitation Tournament appearances in 24 seasons as head coach. Among his many honors, Coach Martellii was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year in 2004. Coach Martelli has served as president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches&#39; (NABC) Board of Directors; as a member of the NCAA Division I Men&#39;s Basketball Ethics Coalition; and on the NCAA Division I Oversight Committee. In 2021, he received the NABC Guardians of the Game Award for Leadership.
