He started drawing airplanes as a child missing his Marine aviator father overseas. As an artist Tracy kept the memory and beauty of those scenes using his local knowledge and unique perspective on the most beautiful locations.
He is also known for his musical talents and over the years has played throughout clubs/private partys in Southern California.
This print is a tribute to his dad being Crew Chief on this 1951 flight, to see if this plane could make it to Hawaii, then to Midway Island and on to Japan to enter the Korean conflict.
MSGT Longstreth received the Army Distinguished Unit Citation for the heroic action while serving in Korea. He was attached to Transport Squardron 253, Marine Aircraft Group 25, at the Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, Santa Ana, CA.
As a crew member aboard the Douglas Skymaster transports, Longstreth flew 50 missions, compiling 100 hours, during the Korean conflict.
He also was a Veteran of WWII. He received the Flying Leatherneck's citation which stated that his "repeated acts of Valor and Gallantry were in keepig with the highest traditions of military service.
Longstreth was a graduate of Marine Corps Aviation Technical School and a former Air Force mechanic when he joined the Marines in July 1940. Upon his death he was a resident of Santa Ana, CA.
