Join fellow Patron Donors for an exclusive professionally guided field trip through the TM Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area&nbsp;Broadmoor Tract, a rich wetland habitat that supports wading birds, alligators, and countless other species. In appreciation of your generosity, we have a special &lsquo;limited edition&rsquo; Field Trip planned to explore a waterfowl management area that often attracts up to 100 species of overwintering birds. Species highlights include lots and lots of ducks, shorebirds, wading birds, Gray-headed Swamphen, North Harriers, Bald Eagles, purple gallinule, white pelicans, and many more. &nbsp;The trip will be limited to 8 vehicles. Patron donors can bring as many guests fit in a single vehicle.&nbsp; This is an early rise, long day of birding type of trip, led by a professional birder with extensive experience at this property. Please email Rochelle Hood with any questions. &nbsp; David Simpson, co-owner of Birding with David Simpson, will lead the field trip to TM Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area Broadmoor Tract on Sunday, 12/21. This field trip is available by Special Use Permit as public access to this tract is normally restricted to Thursdays. The Property Manager will open the gate for us at 6:45am and lock the gate at 7am. Therefore, no late arrival will be able be permitted to enter.&nbsp;The trip leader and I will have a special contact code in case of emergencies, and the Property Manager will return to the site at 9am to open the gate to the Fellsmere Grade Recreation section only.&nbsp; ***If this is your first trip to the property please allow plenty of extra time to reach the parking lot by 0645am. DO NOT use the GPS location from Google or Apple Maps, as it often takes you to the property boundary on the canal, not the boat ramp. From Babcock Road it is 6.5 miles to the parking area where we meet. It can take up to 17 minutes from the time you leave Babcock St SE and travel down Fellsmere Grade Rd. It is a dirt road and often bumpy, so cars go slow. Allow enough time to stop to use the restroom at the boat ramp along the way, as there are no restrooms once we start the field trip. &nbsp;The entrance gate will be locked after our group enters, so late arrivals cannot be accommodated.** Logistics: Follow Fellsmere Grade Road all the way (west) until it dead ends at the last boat ramp (6.5 miles from where you turn off Babcock Road). You&rsquo;ll pass the Crew Team practice area, the Headwaters Boat Ramp and then continue driving until you can&rsquo;t go any further without going into the water. &nbsp;The road ends at the Fellsmere Grade Recreation area boat ramp. &nbsp;Cross over the bridge on the right (along the canal) and wait in the line of cars with the other participants. While you&#39;re driving down Fellsmere Grade Road you will pass two boat ramps. I strongly suggest using the restroom at one of the first two boat ramps, as the bathroom near our meeting area is not maintained and really disgusting (it literally makes me dry heave). There are no bathrooms once we depart from the parking lot and cross the bridge. The trip will include very little walking. &nbsp;We&rsquo;ll primarily be driving around water impoundments with routine stops for photographs, scope views, and scanning for species. The walking portion is optional, so the entire trip is suitable for anyone with limited mobility. Most people will eat their lunch while driving as there is no planned lunch break. &nbsp;Plan for 5 to 7 hours of birding. &nbsp; &nbsp; Please bring: Lunch, water/drinks, binoculars, and hearty snacks. Closed toed shoes that can get wet or muddy are recommended. I will check out a radio to each vehicle upon arrival.
