These works also stand as a final work for these composers, or arrive with a late creative burst. We start with Haas&rsquo; last completed quartet, written shortly before the outbreak of World War II. It marries modernist harmonies with folk-inspired melodies. Jan&aacute;ček was fascinated with psychological drama and human emotion, inspiring him to compose late in life a string quartet based on the Kreutzer Sonata. The final work of the night is Dvoř&aacute;k&rsquo;s last string quartet which blends American-influenced freshness with mature Czech style. &ldquo;The quartet digs into the emotional complexity&hellip; and exposes their core&hellip;.&rdquo;VANCOUVER CLASSICAL MUSIC
