Then, in 2020, her son experienced severe autistic burnout, and she went through her own breakdown. She rebuilt her parenting approach and self-care rhythms around radical acceptance, laying the foundation for her low demand work. Amanda sees parenting as an act of shaping the world we want our children to inhabit. Her work is unapologetically LGBTQIA+ affirming, celebrates families in every form, and stands with trans children and adults. She approaches diversity, equity, and inclusion as lifelong commitments, examining how her own race, culture, and privilege shape her perspective while making space for families’ racial, cultural, and economic realities. Outside her work, Amanda finds joy in deep conversation, solitude, woodworking, yoga, beach walks, and snuggling her kids. She’s proudly autistic, terrible at small talk, and, by her own admission, never leaves a party gracefully.
