But the names of these ancestors may not be known or familiar to the current generation. &quot;Pick an Elder, Find an Ancestor&quot; pairs you, a Gullah/Geechee high school student, with a family elder that you select as your teammate. The elder, acting as your research partner, gives you clues to help you trace your ancestor through government documents and local records. As a Community Legacy Student Ambassador, your personal family history expands the narrative of Gullah/Geechee contributions in Nassau County.&nbsp;&quot;Find an Ancestor,&quot; a program of the &quot;Two-Hundred Voices Ancestral Names Project&quot; is supported by a grant from the Delores Barr Weaver Black Arts Organization Fund at The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida. It is presented in conjunction with community Black History projects across Florida.
