Two lit black candles stand in the foreground against a circular, ornate wrought-iron floral backdrop on a plain wall.

These are songs for night, for shadow. Lay down. Get quiet. Listen. Join us for Playlist Poem: On A Venus Stage with raya marie hazell, an interdisciplinary artist, poet, and grief doula. raya's distinctive blend of poetry and recorded music was honed during an artist residency in Atlanta, and Sound Sanctuary is honored to welcome her poetic and sonic offerings into our space. Her playlist, recorded to 1/4" reel-to-reel tape in collaboration with SoSa, is inspired by the work of Meshell Ndegeocello, whose last three decades of creative output are a special focus for us. Contemplative, liminal, mournful, and cosmic, the playlist will guide listeners through the sonic atmosphere of night. It will be played through SoSa's reference sound system and prefaced by an original poem performed live by the artist. Please note: Out of respect for the listening experience and the intimacy of the space, please arrive by 8pm and attend only if you can stay for the full event (approximately 75 minutes). Dress comfortably, and feel free to bring a mat, pillow, and/or blanket. Light refreshments and snacks will be served. www.rayais.onlinewww.sosaatl.org
