This special collection includes handcrafted jewelry set by Caroleen “Mac” Dudley, created from beads that belonged to her mother, Betty — known as the White Mountain National Forest Baby. Mac continues her mother’s legacy by transforming Betty’s treasured beads into beautiful jewelry in her honor.

Also included is a signed copy of the limited-edition book Where the Wild River Flows by Mildred J. Richardson.   The book tells the remarkable story of Betty’s childhood growing up deep in the White Mountain National Forest, where her father, Alva Richardson, worked for the U.S. Forest Service as one of the first park rangers. Living in the remote Wild River wilderness, Betty became the first child ever born on White Mountain National Forest land, and today Betty Brook, a small stream in the White Mountains, bears her name in tribute.

A rare and meaningful piece of Northwoods history — and a beautiful tribute to a remarkable life.
