On the night of October 30, 1938, Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre took to the airwaves with a radio drama so convincing that listeners across the country believed Martians had landed in New Jersey. Eighty-eight years later to the night, Hendersonville Theatre brings that legendary broadcast to life on the Grace Center stage. Performed in the reader's theatre tradition, this production puts the spotlight squarely on voice, sound, and imagination. Watch a cast of talented local actors build an alien invasion out of nothing but words, breath, and live sound effects, just as it was done in the golden age of radio. It's the perfect fall outing for anyone who loves a good story told well. Hendersonville Theatre has been a cornerstone of Western North Carolina's performing arts community for decades, and we're thrilled to welcome them to Grace Center.
