Regional Food System SummitRabbit Valley Farmers Market is hosting a one-day Regional Food System Summit that brings stakeholders from Hamilton, Catoosa, Walker, Dade and the surrounding counties into a single room. Farmers, food pantries, health systems, schools, local governments, Extension agents, businesses, and funders will each find a place at the table. The goal of the day is not a conversation for its own sake. It is to leave with three things the region does not currently have: a shared vision for its food system, a working coalition to carry it, and a coordinated strategy for funding the work.Every participant will help write that vision, meet partners across two states who share their challenges, and see exactly where their organization fits in the regional food system. Farmers will connect with buyers and programs that can open new markets. Pantries and health partners will find local sources of fresh food. Funders will see where their dollars can do the most good. Everyone who joins the coalition will gain a stronger position to pursue grants together and compete for larger funding than any one organization could win alone.Rabbit Valley will lead the effort on the ground, drawing on the relationships and market infrastructure it has already built across the region. The market has engaged Clancy Harrison, MS, RDN, FAND, a national food systems strategist and founder of Food Dignity®, to design and facilitate the summit itself and the six months of coalition-building that follow it. Clancy grew Food Dignity® from zero funding to more than $2 million and has built coalitions for food and public health programs in four states.Sign up now for this event. Lunch is included.
