In this two-hour workshop for musicians of all levels, Jason will discuss his approach to Klezmer and &ldquo;Jewish music&rdquo; in general. We&rsquo;ll learn a few songs together and explore different approaches to the music, with an emphasis on improvisation, self-expression, and spirituality. This workshop is open to musicians and non-musicians of all skill levels and backgrounds. Bring an instrument if you have one! Clarinetist Jason Ditzian has been leading the iconic Bay Area-based Klezmer ensemble, Kugelplex since 2003 and Western Mass-based Myrtle Street Klezmer since 2022. Both groups take an expansive, non-traditional approach to &ldquo;old-world soul&rdquo; music from across the Jewish diaspora. As a working Klezmer, Jason has planned and played hundreds of weddings and lifecycle events and traveled the world performing with composer Jewlia Eisenberg and her ensemble Charming Hostess (Tzadik Records).
