1776—Before and After

Before 1776 there was 1756. In that year Walter Rutherfurd arrived to fight in the French and Indian Wars. His 1758 marriage to Catherine Alexander Parker united two influential families and fortunes. The 1760 birth of their son, John Rutherfurd, would eventually, combine private enterprise with public service to the new nation.
